velocity nationals/mva performance

the mva program

velocity nationals is the largest competition we went to last year. at velocity nationals, there is a program called the maximum velocity artist program. to get into their program, you have to win an mva scholarship at one of their regionals. the program gives you many opportunities, like taking classes from many masterclass teachers, help in programs like dancer against cancer, and perform with singers like hailee steinfield, ava max, and more.

the mva program cont.

being in the mva program meant you pretty much had no breaks the entire week. day one was orientation, rehersals, and auditions. during orientation, we got velocity backpacks, longsleeves with everyones name on them, and a schedule packet for the week. we auditioned for the mva plus program, which took about four hours. i had a small break, then we had rehersals from 8 to 11 pm, where we started our dances for the gala, where we performed with artist ava max. i got back to my hotel room around 12, because of rehersals running late, and elevators taking forever. i got sleep, then had to wake up the next morning around 6 am for my first solo. it went really well, but i still had a long day ahead of me. after my solo, i went up to my hotel room and showered, got ready, and went back down to the convention center for headshots. after headshots, i had more rehersals, and then hung out in my room and slept. the next morning, i had more rehersals, classes for cancer foundations, and masterclasses with guest teachers. i met so many new people this day, and met some of the friends i am still really close with, reagan, bria, and a few other girls. the final day was probably the busiest of them all. we started the day with convention classes untill around 11:30, then we had to go backstage and get ready for the faculty show. This is where they announced the scholarships for the students that auditioned, we got to see the faculty piece, and we got to perform our piece, just without ava max. we performed, and then right after, we had more dress rehersals for the performance later that night. after those rehersals, i went up to my room and started getting ready for the gala. once i was finished getting readuy, we got in line, took photos, and went inside. we were started with salads as our appetizers, and there were violinists playing aswell. after that, we were brought our main courses, and it was really fun to just talk with my team and friends. then, the mva dancers were called backstage to change and quickly get ready. the minis and juniors danced, then it was our turn. the stage had 3 levels, we were on the top, a couple dancers in the middle, and ava on the center lowest. we performed and it felt really good top be dancing with my friends and to have my studio watching. we went back and changed and finished watching the gala performances. overall, it was a great week and i loved being a part of that experience.

the next few days were full of competition with my team, convention classes, and rehersals. the second to last day was the wrap party. it was full of bounce houses, dance offs, and games. my friend kylie and i won 2 liters of soda, fanta and coke. being at the wrap party, your studio had to be dressed in costume. we all wore white, and wrapped bubbles all around us.
